Masai Herders
It's mid-November 2009 in Kenya and the "short rains" have brought the Masai Mara back to life. After a long, devastating drought, the once brown earth and skeletal trees now sport fresh green leaves and in depressed areas, ponds and puddles fill with water. Daily life for the Masai at this time means herding cattle, many of which are emaciated, to greener pastures. Many don't make it and this is a great loss because wealth and sustenance for a Masai are measured by the number of cattle he owns.
