Qutb Minar & Monuments

Constructed of red sandstone during Islamic rule in the 12th century, the Qutb (also referred to as Qutab or Qutub) Minar was used by the mu'azzin (crier) to call the faithful to prayer.  The tower still stands tall over the ruins, mosque, tombs and other monuments in the Qutb complex.  It is one of the many UNESCO World Heritage sites in India.
